Linda has enjoyed dancing all her life. In 1998, she was introduced to zydeco and fell in love with the music and the dance. Now a seasoned dance instructor, Linda provides zydeco and Cajun dance lessons in the San Francisco Bay Area on a regular basis.
Traveling extensively to south-central Louisiana, the home of zydeco, Linda soaked up the local style and developed a deep respect for the Creole culture and community where zydeco originates. In her lessons, she strives to transmit that respect and her love of the dance to those new to the zydeco scene.
She makes dancing fun and easy, providing beginners with enough knowledge in a short time to get on the dance floor and have fun! For more experienced dancers, Linda takes the mystery out of complicated moves. Her fancy footwork and styling techniques will improve the look and feel of the dance for anyone. Line dancers will appreciate her ability to break down the line dances typically done to zydeco music and make them easy to master.
Linda has taught at a variety of venues including festivals, corporate parties, weddings, workshops, and on-going group and private lessons. She's taught at festivals at Gator by the Bay (2013), Rio Ramaza Park (2012 and 2013), Isleton Crawdad Festival (2012 and 2011), Sebastapol Cajun and Zydeco Festival (2009) and at the Pet Food Express Corporate Holiday Party (2009).
Since 2012, Linda's held classes through West Contra Costa Adult Education in Richmond. Previously, she's taught at various locations around the Bay, including the 23 Club in Brisbane, Boogie Woogie Ballroom in Foster City, the IOOF Hall in San Jose. Recently, she's partnered with a studio in Berkeley, Playing Life Academy, to offer lessons and workshops there.
Linda is a fixture in the Bay Area zydeco scene and can usually be found at one of the many zydeco dances going on in the area. Her classes provide a relaxing and stress-free learning atmosphere which is enouraging and friendly. If you want to learn to Dance Zydeco, contact Linda.
